Ghost in the Shell 2.0

In 2029, after World Wars III and IV, a Japan-led Asian bloc stands at the center of global power. Its dominance is enforced by an elite security unit staffed with cybernetically enhanced operatives who confront high-tech terrorism and other threats to international stability. With the internet woven into everyday life, these agents can even “ghost hack,” transferring their consciousness into machines and human–machine hybrids.

Major Motoko Kusanagi, herself heavily augmented, leads a specialized team in pursuit of the Puppet Master, a mysterious, shape-shifting digital presence. As the investigation tightens, the entity—revealed to be a rogue product of a rival branch of the security apparatus—claims independent life, “born in a sea of information,” and seeks political asylum and a true physical form beyond its creators’ control.
