Synopsis
Zouressha ga Yatte Kita takes viewers on a poignant journey through a unique chapter of Japan's history, exploring the fascinating story of the Elephant Trains. Set against the backdrop of World War II, the film reveals the tragic fate of many zoo animals as they faced the threat of wartime devastation, with zoos resorting to drastic measures to protect the public. In the aftermath of the war, only two elephants remained in Japan, residing at the Higashiyama Zoo in Nagoya.
To foster a connection between children and these magnificent creatures, special trains were introduced, transporting young visitors from across the nation to the zoo. The film not only highlights the resilience of these elephants but also emphasizes the importance of preserving wildlife and the bonds formed between humans and animals. Through its educational lens, Zouressha ga Yatte Kita offers a heartfelt reflection on compassion and the significance of safeguarding our shared natural heritage.
