Oedo wa Nemurenai!

Set in the vibrant Kyouhou era of the early 18th century, a time marked by the flourishing of merchant culture, Yoshiwara serves as the backdrop for a captivating tale. Here, Usugumo, a strikingly beautiful courtesan known for her charm and grace, navigates the complexities of her life. Born to a Christianized mother and the historical figure Tokugawa Yoshimune, the eighth shogun of Japan, her lineage is a constant reminder of the societal constraints that keep her from her father.

Usugumo's life takes an unexpected turn when she crosses paths with Kikunosuke, a charismatic thief with blonde hair. Together with Aoto Touichirou, a doctor who advocates for the introduction of Western medicine, and her loyal feline companion, Kotetsu, they form an unlikely band of thieves known as the Kikugumi. As they embark on their adventures, they must confront the challenges of their world, particularly as a shadowy group emerges with intentions aimed directly at Usugumo, threatening to unravel everything she holds dear.
