FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Otaku Den free to use?

Yes. Tracking anime, rating and ranking, creating ranked lists and tier boards, adding friends, For You (3 runs a month), and your Otaku Persona are all free. Premium is $14.99/year for unlimited recommendations and avatars, Kindred browsing, and extra profile customization.

How do I import my anime list from MyAnimeList?

Go to Settings → Import from MyAnimeList. Export your list from MyAnimeList (Profile → List → Export) and upload the file here. We'll pull in your scores and watch statuses, and you can choose to skip anime already on your Otaku Den list or overwrite them with your MAL values.

What's the difference between a ranked list and a tier list?

A ranked list is a numbered #1, #2, #3 order. A tier list is an S-through-F board where you drop titles into rows. Both live under My Anime → Lists, and both can be shared with a link. Your personal ranking of everything you've rated is separate — that lives on My Anime → Rankings.

How do For You recommendations work?

Rate at least five anime, then open For You. Set genres, themes, a quality bar, and how far to wander. The engine builds a taste fingerprint from what you've rated, completed, and dropped, then returns ten picks with a match score and a reason for each. Tweaking filters is free; generating a batch uses one of your three free runs per month.

What is an Otaku Persona?

An Otaku Persona is one of 25 collectible archetype cards matched to how you watch — free for everyone once you've rated five anime. Browse every card at otakuden.gg/help/otaku-persona. Premium unlocks Kindred browsing and unlimited re-attunes.

How do I find other anime fans?

Open Friends → Find Denmates. Browse the grid, or filter it by genre, theme, or what someone is watching — every person shows a taste-match score and shared shows. Add someone to send a friend request; if you both add each other, you match instantly.
