Raccoon Rascal

In the quaint town of Brailsford Junction, Wisconsin, young Sterling North navigates life amidst personal challenges. With his mother hospitalized and his brother serving on the Western Front, the boy finds solace in caring for the animals around him, accompanied only by his father and loyal dog, Hauser. Sterling's days are typically filled with routine, but a weekend fishing trip with his friend Oscar takes an unexpected turn when they stumble upon an orphaned raccoon kit, abandoned after a tragic encounter with a hunter.

As Sterling takes on the responsibility of nurturing this mischievous little creature, whom he affectionately names Rascal, he begins to forge a deeper connection with his surroundings. The bond he develops with Rascal becomes a source of joy and companionship, helping him cope with the strains of family life and the uncertainties of war.
