Good-by Marilyn

Good-by Marilyn is a unique animated short set to the whimsical tune of "Manatsu no dekigoto" by Miki Hirayama. This avant-garde piece weaves together a vibrant tapestry of iconic imagery, featuring beloved figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Mouse, and Superman, alongside the energetic Glico chocolate mascot. The film playfully explores themes of desire and nostalgia through its engaging visual style, combining various cultural references that challenge and delight viewers.

Screened at the 3rd Animation Festival at Sogetsu Art Center, Good-by Marilyn reflects the creative spirit of its time, coinciding with Tanaami’s participation in the exhibit “Watashi no Marilyn Monroe” at Gallery Décor in Tokyo. The animation invites audiences to experience a fusion of art and music, creating a captivating atmosphere that lingers long after the credits roll.
