Synopsis
Following Kitauji High School Concert Band’s auditions for the Kyoto Prefectural Concert Band Competition, ten students are left off the performance roster after a demanding evaluation. Unable to join the wind ensemble on stage, they form “Team Monaka” and choose to stand behind their classmates in whatever ways they can until competition day arrives.
Whether it’s hauling equipment or crafting monaka-shaped good-luck charms, Team Monaka quietly becomes an essential part of the band’s summer—helping carry everyone through a season that’s as memorable as it is bittersweet on the road toward nationals.
