Farewell, My Dear Cramer

Women’s soccer in Japan has been losing its footing, yet a handful of school teams refuse to let the sport fade away. At Warabi Seinan High School, that quiet determination becomes a small but genuine sign that the game can find its way back.

Nozomi Onda, a standout who previously played on a boys’ team in middle school, believes competing alongside other girls will only hold her back—she only feels driven when facing opponents she considers truly strong. In contrast, talented newcomer Sumire Suou has the ability to shine, but struggles with teammates who can’t match her level. Persuaded by Onda’s former coach, Onda joins the girls’ club and soon meets Suou, who arrives with her close friend and rival, Midori Soshizaki. As they take the field together, their skills and ambitions begin to push the team forward, one play at a time.
