Once every few decades, the Wild Hunt—mounted fae knights—stirs from its long sleep and rides across the land, a cycle that leaves withered growth behind so new life can take root. But when lightning strikes the stone monument that holds their slumber, a fragment breaks away along with the Hunt’s guide. When the riders awaken again without him, their ranks lose cohesion, and the Hunt drifts through the forests without direction, bringing death in its path.

To set things right, Spriggan assigns Elias Ainsworth the task of returning the guide’s steed to its rightful master. At the same time, Gabriel, a young boy with asthma and a restless hunger for adventure, finds the broken shard and inadvertently summons the knight sealed within. With only a single clear purpose—finding his way back—the guide must reunite with his horse and the Wild Hunt before the damage from his absence becomes impossible to undo.
