In a reimagined Meiji Era, Sakamoto Ryunosuke makes his way back to Kyoto from Shanghai, accompanied by his quirky youkai companion, Nekomaru. In this world, youkai must obtain a license to coexist peacefully with humans, a law enforced by the Kidou Shinsengumi Co. Ltd. However, this organization faces opposition from the Tsubamegumi, a group that resents the restrictions imposed on their kind.

As the son of the Shinsengumi’s owner, Ryunosuke finds himself torn between two worlds, navigating the complexities of human-youkai relations while uncovering the truth behind the tensions that threaten to ignite conflict. With a blend of adventure and humor, the story explores themes of acceptance, loyalty, and the bonds that transcend the boundaries of species.
