After his death, a Japanese office worker is reborn as Ars, the infant son of the noble Louvent family in the Summerforth Empire. The Louvents govern a modest territory of only a few thousand people, in a medieval-inspired world marked by deep inequality and shaky politics. As Ars grows and comes to understand his surroundings, he becomes increasingly certain that war is on the horizon.
