Kindhearted and always putting others first, high schooler Hiiragi Yatsuse still can’t seem to connect with his classmates. One night on the way home, he runs into Tsumugi, an odd but determined girl searching for her missing mother—and before he can make sense of it, she’s made herself a guest in his home.

Hiiragi’s quiet life is interrupted when a supernatural presence appears in his room, and Tsumugi helps him slip out of danger. She soon admits the truth: she’s an oni. After Hiiragi notices the amulet she treasures, he agrees to escort her to the shrine it came from, setting the pair on a journey tied to her mother’s whereabouts—one that brings unfamiliar encounters and obstacles along the road.
