Synopsis

In a world devastated by a catastrophic disease that transformed 90% of humanity into relentless zombies, thirteen years have elapsed since the fateful "Red Day." The remnants of society now reside in isolated communities, clinging to the hope of reclaiming the once-thriving cities. For the new generation, life is a constant struggle for survival, with no memories of the world that existed before the outbreak.

Aki, a young girl with no recollection of the past, sets off from her village alongside her loyal friends Haru and Natsuki to search for her missing father. Their journey quickly turns perilous as they navigate a landscape teeming with the undead. In their quest, they encounter fellow survivors Yuu and Sakura, and together, they seek refuge in a home improvement store. With their numbers bolstered, they prepare to confront the dangers that lie ahead, determined to reclaim their world from the clutches of the undead.

Otaku Consensus

At one day into its broadcast, #I'm Looking For a Zombie has no defensible critical consensus; its 60/100 AniList score, 47 favourites, and low database rankings indicate muted early engagement rather than a settled verdict. The clearest initial draw is its female-led blend of travel, everyday companionship, and low-gore survival, but no genuine recurring criticism of Shinya Une’s direction, pacing, adaptation quality, or a specific arc can yet be identified. The supplied prose reviews concern Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? and Zom 100, so applying their praise or complaints to this series would be misleading.

Why You Should Watch

Watch this if you want zombie anime built around a female-led traveling ensemble and resourcefulness rather than a gore-first spectacle. Its AniList profile places Cute Girls Doing Cute Things almost level with Zombie and Post-Apocalyptic, while Gore sits at only 20 percent; that combination points toward tension shaped by group dynamics instead of constant splatter. The concept occupies useful territory between Girls’ Last Tour’s girl-led journeying and School-Live!’s collision of cute visual language with undead danger, with a gyaru element giving the cast a less uniform identity. Studio Comet’s 12-episode format also makes it a compact seasonal commitment, while Kenichi Yamashita and Aki Itami jointly oversee both composition and scripts. Choose it for tonal contrast and survival logistics, not for a settled reputation: its broadcast has only just begun.

Key Characters

  • A
    Aki(VA: Miyari Nemoto)

Aki is the clearest vessel for the series’ Coming of Age tag, with her development measured against a society whose former norms she never personally experienced.

  • H
    Haru(VA: Toshiya Miyata)

Haru receives Main rather than Supporting billing, making the original traveling group structurally closer to a shared ensemble than a protagonist with disposable sidekicks.

  • N
    Natsuki(VA: Lynn)

Natsuki completes the starting trio and is one of five officially designated main characters, reinforcing the production’s emphasis on collective survival over a solitary hero.

  • S
    Sakura(VA: Yuka Nukui)

Sakura’s Main billing elevates a later-met survivor into the permanent dramatic core rather than treating new encounters as temporary road-episode guests.

What Makes It Stand Out

  • 1

Studio Comet is handling the animation under director Shinya Une and assistant director Kyouhei Suzuki, with Narumi Shimoji responsible for translating Katsuwo’s characters into animation designs.

  • 2

Kenichi Yamashita and Aki Itami are jointly credited for both series composition and scriptwriting, giving the same two writers oversight of the season-level structure and individual episode narratives.

  • 3

Its AniList tag distribution makes the intended tonal hybrid unusually explicit: Female Protagonist leads at 85 percent, Zombie and Post-Apocalyptic both register at 83 percent, Cute Girls Doing Cute Things reaches 80 percent, and Gore falls to 20 percent.

  • 4

The series is planned for 12 episodes, a compact format for a travel-based survival story with five characters carrying Main billing.

  • 5

Kenta Higashiooji composes the score, while Masatoshi Mutou serves as art director for the ruined urban environments associated with the series’ 60-percent Urban tag.

Fun Facts & Trivia

Fun fact 1
Katsuwo is credited as the original creator, while the television adaptation separates direction, character design, art direction, and music among Shinya Une, Narumi Shimoji, Masatoshi Mutou, and Kenta Higashiooji.
Fun fact 2
All five named members of the central group are officially classified as Main characters: Aki, Haru, Natsuki, Sakura, and Yuu.
Fun fact 3
The broadcast began on October 3, 2026, with no ending date yet listed, so early scores and rankings reflect an exceptionally small portion of the completed 12-episode run.
Fun fact 4
Its early database footprint is modest: AniList records a 60/100 score and 47 favourites, while MyAnimeList lists it at rank #15278 and popularity #7450.
Fun fact 5
Several supplied web results are title collisions rather than reviews of this anime: they discuss Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? or Zom 100, illustrating how easily its hashtag-style English title can be mixed with unrelated zombie series.
