Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun

Japan’s once-celebrated modern age has faded into memory. After civil war and the collapse of technology, the nation has slipped back to a post-Meiji way of life, fractured into three imperial realms: Yamato, Buo, and Seii.

Fifteen-year-old Aoteru Misumi, a bookish lover of literature, longs to revive the culture and advancements that once defined his homeland. Reluctant to act on his ideas at first, he’s pushed forward by tragedy and sets out for Osaka, determined to enlist and pursue the unification of the country under his own banner.

But Osaka—formerly one of Kansai’s great jewels—has deteriorated into a dangerous, crime-filled city where Aoteru nearly loses his life. There he crosses paths with Yoshitsune Asama, an equally driven youth with the same ambition. Combining Aoteru’s tactical insight with Yoshitsune’s formidable sword skill, the pair begin a hard road toward restoring Japan’s lost stature.
