Synopsis
Rion finds himself in quite a predicament when he unwittingly installs a chip in his mini-4WD, Gun Bluster, thanks to a trick played by the racing company he used to collaborate with. As the chip takes control, Gun Bluster becomes a wild card on the racing circuit, leading Rion to embark on a thrilling adventure alongside the TRF Victorys. Determined to reclaim his car and restore order, Rion teams up with friends like Retsu and Go Seiba, along with fellow TRF members, Ryo Takaba and his younger brother Jiromaru.
As they navigate the challenges of the racing world, the group faces a rival organization that shares an interest in Gun Bluster, raising questions about their true motives. With their passion for mini-4WD racing, Rion and his allies must work together to outmaneuver obstacles and traps, all while striving to safely capture Gun Bluster and regain control of their racing destiny. The journey promises excitement, camaraderie, and the thrill of competition in the fast-paced world of mini-4WD racing.
Otaku Consensus
This WGP one-shot is received as a niche but functional add-on to Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!!: its compact pacing and Xebec’s toy-racing momentum work best for viewers already invested in TRF Victorys and the Mini 4WD culture. Its modest MAL score of 6.35 and tiny AniList favourite count reflect the main complaint: as a single-episode side story, it has little room to develop beyond franchise-service thrills.
Why You Should Watch
Watch this if you want a concentrated dose of 1990s toy-racing anime without committing to a long tournament arc. It scratches the same competitive-hobby itch as Beyblade or Crush Gear Turbo, but with Mini 4WD mechanics, lane-racing tension, and the particular WGP-era appeal of national-team camaraderie. The value here is format: one episode, no filler, built around momentum rather than backstory. For returning Let’s & Go!! fans, it is a compact chance to see Rion, the Seiba brothers, and the Takaba brothers interact inside a more incident-driven special. For newcomers, it works best as a curiosity piece from Xebec’s shounen merchandising era: simple, fast, and unapologetically about the excitement of small machines treated like serious sport.
Key Characters
- RRion
Rion stands out because his connection to Gun Bluster gives the special a more technical, machine-focused hook than a standard hot-blooded race challenge.
- RRetsu Seiba
Retsu Seiba is the steadier Seiba brother, valued by fans as the tactical counterweight to the franchise’s louder competitive energy.
- GGo Seiba
Go Seiba brings the impulsive racing spirit that defines Let’s & Go!!, making him the character most associated with pure forward drive.
- RRyo Takaba
Ryo Takaba adds a cooler, big-brother presence to the TRF Victorys dynamic, contrasting neatly with both the Seiba brothers and Jiromaru.
What Makes It Stand Out
- 1
It is a one-episode WGP-era special aired on July 5, 1997, making it a compact side entry rather than a full television season or recap-heavy extension.
- 2
The production comes from Xebec, the studio behind the main Bakusou Kyoudai Let’s & Go!! anime run, so it preserves the franchise’s mid-1990s shounen-TV visual language rather than reinventing it.
- 3
The special is built around Mini 4WD racing instead of general car culture; its appeal lies in hobby-sport escalation, machine identity, and the dramatic treatment of small-scale vehicles.
- 4
Its reception profile is unusually niche: 653 MAL votes, a popularity rank outside the top 13,000, and only 5 AniList favourites point to an entry watched mostly by franchise completists.
- 5
The AniList tag distribution labels it more strongly as Cars at 79% than Shounen at 50%, which matches how the special foregrounds the racing object and hobby mechanics over broader coming-of-age material.
Fun Facts & Trivia
- Fun fact 1
- The title places it specifically under the WGP banner, tying it to the World Grand Prix phase of Bakusou Kyoudai Let’s & Go!! rather than the earliest domestic-racing portion of the franchise.
- Fun fact 2
- Despite being a single-episode release, it has separate database tracking on both MAL and AniList, where its scores are closely aligned: 6.35/10 on MAL and 64/100 on AniList.
- Fun fact 3
- The special’s MAL rank of #8362 and popularity rank of #13341 show a gap between completion by dedicated fans and broader anime visibility.
- Fun fact 4
- Its core cast list in the available data emphasizes TRF Victorys members, including Retsu Seiba, Go Seiba, Ryo Takaba, and Jiromaru, reinforcing its role as a team-era companion piece.
