Genjou Sanzou, a dedicated Buddhist monk, embarks on a mission from the Emperor to retrieve sacred scriptures that hold immense significance. Along the way, he encounters a lively Earth Deity who introduces him to his new disciple: the irreverent Monkey Deity, Son Goku. Recently freed from a five-century confinement after causing chaos in Heaven, Goku adds a layer of unpredictability to their quest.

Joined by the charming yet carefree Cho Hakkai, the formidable General Sagojyou from the heavenly army, and their spirited horse, the Dragon Crown Prince Ryuuba, Sanzou's journey is anything but ordinary. Together, they navigate a world filled with mystical creatures, engaging challenges, and unexpected camaraderie, leading to both thrilling confrontations and humorous encounters.
