In the aftermath of the atomic bombing that devastated Hiroshima, the year is 1948, and Gen Nakaoka, alongside his mother and adopted brother Ryuuta, faces the challenges of life in a city forever altered by tragedy. Amid the ruins of their former home, the family struggles not only for survival but also to reclaim a sense of hope in a world marked by loss and despair.

As Gen encounters a group of homeless orphans, he begins to understand the deeper layers of resilience and community that can arise even in the most dire circumstances. While grappling with the lingering effects of radiation and the harsh realities imposed by foreign military presence, Gen and Ryuuta must dig deep within themselves to find the courage and determination needed to rebuild their lives and forge a brighter future.
