Emperor Pilaf’s long hunt finally pays off when he secures the Black Star Dragon Balls, artifacts rumored to surpass the power of Earth’s usual set. Just as he’s about to wish for world domination, Son Gokuu intervenes—only for Pilaf’s bungled wish to backfire and transform Gokuu into a child.

The Black Star Dragon Balls then scatter across the galaxy, and Gokuu learns a dire condition: if they aren’t gathered and returned within a year, Earth will explode. Joined by his granddaughter Pan and a young adult Trunks, Gokuu launches into a planet-hopping journey across the universe, racing against time to recover the Dragon Balls and protect their home.
