In 2046, junior high classmates Noboru Terao and Mikako Nagamine are on the verge of graduation when an alien assault upends everyday life. Chosen for a UN space expedition mounted in response, Mikako leaves Earth behind, forcing the two close friends to part ways far sooner than they expected.

They cling to what connection they can through simple emails sent from their cell phones, but the farther Mikako’s mission travels into space, the longer each message takes to arrive. *Voices of a Distant Star* follows their relationship as time delay and distance steadily reshape what it means to stay in touch.
