Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Overture to a New War

Reinhard von Müsel leads the Galactic Empire to a decisive victory over the Free Planets Alliance in the Fourth Battle of Tiamat. Celebrated upon his return to the Imperial capital of Odin, he is promoted to High Admiral and granted the title of Count von Lohengramm. Meanwhile, Alliance strategist Yang Wen-li comes back to Heinessen with little recognition, finding solace in reuniting with close friends.

Any hope of rest is brief. At the urging of the calculating Duke Otho von Braunschweig, Imperial High Command assigns Reinhard a massive invasion—twenty thousand ships aimed at Alliance space. When the plan is leaked to the Alliance government, three fleets totaling forty thousand vessels mobilize to meet the threat and echo the storied Battle of Dagon. Outnumbered two to one, Reinhard prepares a bold approach—and Yang immediately senses what he’s trying to do, leaving the outcome to hinge on whether his superiors will listen in time.
