Mobile Suit Gundam I

In the Universal Century’s future, overcrowding on Earth drives humanity into massive orbital colonies grouped into “Sides.” With power concentrated among Earth’s elites and much of the population pushed into space, unrest grows until UC 0079, when Side 3 proclaims itself the Principality of Zeon and begins a war for independence against the Earth Federation.

Though outmatched in resources, Zeon seizes an early advantage by deploying mobile suits—towering humanoid weapons—led by ace pilot Char Aznable, the masked “Red Comet.” When Char’s unit discovers the Federation’s prototype Gundam under development at Side 7, the ensuing assault forces Amuro Ray, son of the Gundam’s creator, to take the machine into battle. His resistance sparks a personal rivalry with Char and leaves Amuro escaping the colony aboard a Federation ship as the conflict closes in.
