Orphaned and living with his aunt, Chuuta Kokonose has spent years hearing a mysterious voice in his head—an oddity he’s learned to live with while otherwise leading a normal life. That changes when a bizarre creature trails him home and suddenly transports him to a station teeming with unfamiliar beings: a space police headquarters.

There, Rein Brickke, Chief of the Solar System Department, explains that a computer has flagged Chuuta as a potential recruit. Misuzu Sonokata—his sharp-tempered classmate who also serves under Rein—immediately doubts he’s fit for the role. Still shaken but determined, Chuuta agrees to take the aptitude test, urged on by the voice only he can hear and driven to prove Misuzu wrong.
