In the vibrant city of Sendai, seven aspiring idols unite to form the group "Wake Up, Girls!" (WUG), embarking on a journey filled with growth, camaraderie, and the pursuit of their dreams. Under the banner of the small but determined Green Leaves Entertainment, these young women face various challenges as they strive to carve out their place in the competitive idol industry. Their hard work pays off when they achieve a significant victory over the nationally recognized I-1 Club at the Idol Festival, propelling them into the spotlight.

However, the path to success is fraught with uncertainty, especially amidst an idol recession that threatens their newfound status. As the girls navigate the complexities of their careers, they must also contend with the ambitions of a trio of middle school friends—Hayashi Ayumi, Morishima Otome, and Atsugi Itsuka—who are inspired by their journey and eager to follow in their footsteps.
