Thirty years after the sudden emergence of the Burnish—mutants able to wield flames—much of humanity has already paid the price for their destructive outbreaks. Burnish incidents continue to flare up without warning, keeping the world in a constant state of fear and emergency.

In the autonomous republic of Promepolis, the charismatic Kray Foresight has built a prosperous nation by standing firmly against Burnish threats. His specialized firefighting unit, Burning Rescue, tackles these crises with cutting-edge equipment maintained by their gifted mechanic, Lucia Fex. Among them is Galo Thymos, an eager new recruit whose devotion to Foresight runs deep after being saved by him in the past.

When the anti-establishment group known as Mad Burnish begins striking across Promepolis, Galo’s clash with its leader, Lio Fotia, pulls him into a larger mystery. As he pursues answers about the Burnish, his search forces him to reexamine the beliefs he once accepted without question.
