Driven by curiosity after her best friend’s boyfriend leaves her for a man, the blunt and determined Eiya Arakawa arranges a face-to-face meeting. At a café, Yuuga Oota agrees to explain himself only if Eiya can correctly identify the relationship of a couple nearby—and her spot-on deduction catches his attention. Impressed by her sharp intuition, Yuuga later draws her into a private conversation and reveals the existence of the Slave Control Method (SCM), a device capable of turning people into slaves.

SCM users can challenge each other in duels where the device exerts a strong influence on the mind; when the match ends, the loser is compelled to obey the winner. Eager to test his limits, Yuuga asks Eiya to serve as his safeguard if he ever loses—giving her access to 10 million yen to negotiate his release from whoever claims him. Though reluctant, Eiya’s own dissatisfaction with her life pushes her to accept, only to find herself pulled into an escalating struggle as a mysterious group begins gathering slaves at an alarming pace.
