Natsume's Book of Friends Movie: Ephemeral Bond

Takashi Natsume and his yokai companion Madara—better known as Nyanko-sensei—continue their quiet work of returning names to the spirits bound within the Book of Friends left behind by Takashi’s late grandmother, Reiko. One afternoon after school, Takashi crosses paths with a lurking spirit called Monmonbou, whose reaction to his name stirs long-buried memories of Reiko and draws Takashi toward a town tied to her past.

Following that thread, Takashi visits the unfamiliar place and meets Yorie Tsumura, an old acquaintance of his grandmother, along with Yorie’s son, Mukuo. As he learns more about the life Reiko once lived there, a separate mishap unfolds: Nyanko-sensei wanders off in search of food, finds a strange “Spirit Seed,” and soon a fruit tree appears overnight. Unable to resist, he eats the fruit—only to split into three—sending Takashi and his companions searching for a way to set things right, and revealing further secrets hidden within the town.
