At the shop run by the enigmatic Yuuko, any heartfelt wish can be fulfilled—so long as the price is paid. Kimihiro Watanuki, plagued by an unwanted sensitivity to spirits, offers his labor in exchange for relief, taking on whatever Yuuko asks of him, from chores and errands to assisting with her unusual clientele.

In *xxxHOLiC Shunmuki*, Watanuki shares a meal with his friend and rival Shizuka Doumeki, along with Kohane Tsuyuri and her grandmother, and the group reflects on how their lives have shifted since they first met. Not long after, Watanuki dreams of Doumeki’s grandfather, Haruka, who asks him to retrieve certain items from the family temple’s storeroom; with Doumeki at his side, the search unfolds like a chain of clues, each discovery pointing to the next and leading them toward a conclusion that feels both surprising and unavoidable.
