Synopsis

Beneath a city’s glittering skyline, an underground boxing circuit runs on blood, betting, and deafening cheers. Mignon, a young fighter on the rise, endures the brutality of the ring and the hard life surrounding it, finding his one refuge in a backroom infirmary. There, the enigmatic doctor Oh Young-One quietly treats injured boxers, and Mignon is drawn to the calm safety of his presence.

Young-One’s steady kindness becomes a lifeline as he repeatedly patches up Mignon’s wounds, but the doctor carries a forbidden secret. When a rare slip reveals it, Mignon is suddenly placed in grave danger. Urging him to stay away for his own safety, Young-One tries to create distance—yet Mignon refuses to let go of the only person who makes him feel seen.

Otaku Consensus

Mignon earns its devoted following through confident direction, a synth-charged urban atmosphere, and unusually economical emotional storytelling across its roughly hour-long runtime. ABJ COMPANY’s expressive animation and the central relationship carry the production even when difficult perspectives produce awkward movement. Its most persistent criticism is structural: the compact pacing leaves limited room for development, while the extended explicit finale can feel tacked on rather than dramatically necessary.

Why You Should Watch

Watch Mignon if you want adult BL with bruised masculinity, physical danger, and direct erotic intensity rather than a coy school romance. Its 12 short episodes amount to roughly an hour, yet the direction establishes a distinct language of harsh ring lighting, shadowed treatment rooms, synth music, and bodies animated as both vulnerable and dangerous. It scratches some of the same itch as ABJ COMPANY’s Hyperventilation, but adds a grittier genre framework built around boxing, medicine, and vampirism. The compact format suits viewers who prefer concentrated chemistry without a full-season commitment, though it also demands comfort with nudity and an extended explicit sequence near the end. Come for the unusual collision of adult BL and supernatural noir; stay for how restraint, touch, and physical care communicate more than exposition.

Key Characters

  • M
    Mignon

Mignon’s emotional directness contrasts with his physically punishing world, making his refusal to conceal attachment the relationship’s most volatile quality.

  • O
    Oh Young-One

Young-One draws much of his appeal from controlled, economical behavior, with small lapses in professional composure carrying more weight than conventional romantic declarations.

What Makes It Stand Out

  • 1

ABJ COMPANY compresses the complete story into 12 short episodes totaling roughly 60 minutes, giving the series the density of a feature film despite its episodic release format.

  • 2

Its visual identity combines underground-sports grime with neon urban lighting and a synth-forward musical atmosphere, a combination repeatedly singled out in positive viewer reviews.

  • 3

The animation favors elastic, highly expressive body movement over rigid naturalism. That approach gives the boxing and intimacy physical immediacy, although reviewers also noted distorted anatomy and awkward motion during difficult perspectives.

  • 4

The series centers an adult, primarily male cast rather than the school setting common to many animated BL titles; AniList’s tags also emphasize boxing, medicine, LGBTQ+ themes, and vampirism as unusually prominent elements.

  • 5

Explicit content is concentrated largely in the final episode instead of being distributed throughout the narrative, a structural choice praised as a payoff by some viewers and criticized by others as overextended.

Fun Facts & Trivia
