In the aftermath of the massive coalition war, China turns toward rebuilding, and Qin is no exception. Yet peace brings its own battles: Ying Zheng’s faction and Lü Buwei’s supporters remain locked in a bitter power struggle. Though Zheng earned the people’s confidence during the war, Lü is still maneuvering, intending to disrupt Zheng’s coming-of-age ceremony in 18 months.

As tensions rise at court, news arrives that a 20,000-strong Zhao army is advancing on Qin. With few capable commanders available, Lü attempts to corner Zheng into taking the field himself—until Zheng’s half-brother Cheng Jiao steps forward to lead in his place, a choice Zheng accepts after the trust forged between them. But when Zhao abruptly withdraws shortly after the first clash, the sudden retreat hints at deeper schemes, further entangling Qin’s internal conflict as Zheng looks to the few allies he can truly count on: General Bi and Xin of the Fei Xin unit.
