Synopsis
At the office, Shinozaki finds himself constantly looked after by his senior colleague, Shiori Katase. She’s petite and charming, but it’s her warmth and attentiveness that stand out most as she fusses over him throughout the workday.
Shinozaki can’t help wondering whether her doting is simply part of being a good senpai—or something more. As Katase’s delight in caring for him becomes harder to hide, the line between workplace kindness and budding romance starts to blur.
Otaku Consensus
My Tiny Senpai lands best as a soft, character-centric workplace comfort rom-com, with Project No.9’s cute-forward presentation, easy weekly pacing, and a notably well-liked sixth episode doing more for it than the actual joke writing. The verdict from critics and viewers is mixed but consistent: Shiori Katase’s charm carries the show, while the most common complaint is that it feels overly familiar, especially beside My Senpai Is Annoying, and rarely finds a sharper comic identity of its own.
Why You Should Watch
Choose My Tiny Senpai if you want an office romance that leans into after-work comfort rather than workplace stress, romantic melodrama, or high-concept comedy. It scratches a nearby itch to My Senpai Is Annoying and Wotakoi, but with a more openly iyashikei texture: soft reactions, chibi-style exaggeration, office-lady cuteness, and little bursts of nekomimi and cosplay flavor. The appeal is not elaborate plotting; it is the low-friction rhythm of adult characters being earnest, awkward, and visibly fond of each other in a setting anime still uses less often than classrooms. Viewers who need rapid romantic escalation or punchline-heavy comedy may bounce off it, but anyone looking for a breezy 12-episode desk-job sugar rush will understand why Shiori became the show’s main selling point.
Key Characters
- SShiori Katase
Shiori is the series’ critical lightning rod: even negative reviews tend to single her out as the adorable, waifu-coded reason the show remains watchable.
- SShinozaki
Shinozaki works best as a grounded office-romance viewpoint character, giving the series a quieter adult-male perspective instead of the usual high-school rom-com setup.
What Makes It Stand Out
- 1
Project No.9 gives the adaptation a bright, compact TV-romcom look that fits its chibi, cute-gag, and office-lady appeal rather than chasing dramatic realism.
- 2
The series is built around an adult workplace cast, a notable distinction in a romance-comedy field still dominated by school settings; AniList tags its work setting at 93% and its primarily adult cast at 78%.
- 3
Its comedy frequently shifts into chibi expression work and costume-flavored cuteness, matching AniList tags such as Chibi, Nekomimi, and Cosplay instead of relying only on verbal banter.
- 4
Episode 6 earned particular viewer praise in the available fan commentary, with one response calling it the point where the show fully won them over and made them laugh throughout.
- 5
The production uses a multi-writer script setup, with Keiichirou Oochi, Satoshi Sugisawa, and Yasuko Aoki all credited, which suits the show’s episodic office-sketch rhythm.
