Synopsis
Rein, a skilled enchanter known for his ability to amplify equipment with magic, finds himself abruptly dismissed from his guild due to the over-saturation of enhancements on their gear. Frustrated by this unjust treatment, he decides to reclaim the vast amount of mana he had invested in their items. In an unexpected twist, he channels this energy into an ordinary copper sword, transforming it into an extraordinary weapon boasting an astounding 10,000 enhancement points.
With no prior combat experience but equipped with the power to create formidable gear, Rein embarks on a journey to embrace a new, liberated life as an adventurer. As he navigates this uncharted territory, he discovers both the challenges and joys of his newfound freedom, all while wielding the potential for greatness through his unique magical abilities.
Otaku Consensus
P.A. Works’ premiere gives familiar LitRPG material brisk comic execution: Shuu Honma’s direction sustains the absurdity, while Rein’s characterization and the enhancement economy establish unusually coherent rules, the quality most often praised by Anime News Network and early viewers. The principal limitation is the expelled-overpowered-hero template itself; even this polished treatment has yet to escape the formulaic ceiling identified in ANN’s otherwise positive assessment.
Why You Should Watch
If your patience with expelled-from-the-party anime ends the moment every supporting character loses common sense, this is the corrective: its workplace dispute follows the rules of its enchantment economy, a point Reddit viewers specifically praised. The appeal is less conventional power fantasy than comic systems abuse—revocable enhancement points, absurd numerical escalation, chibi reactions, and slapstick delivered through P.A. Works’ production. AniList’s strong Surreal Comedy, Urban Fantasy, and Found Family tags also signal a stranger social flavor than the standard medieval quest loop, with delinquent and gang elements in the mix. It scratches Bofuri’s itch for gleefully broken game logic and Banished from the Hero’s Party’s post-employment reset, but centers a support-class specialist rather than a conventional swordsman. Watch it for LitRPG mechanics that withstand scrutiny without surrendering the joke.
Key Characters
- RRein Garland(VA: Daiki Yamashita)
Rein is the rare expelled-party lead whose dismissal has been praised by viewers for following the story’s established mechanics rather than requiring everyone around him to behave irrationally.
- MMargaret Ells(VA: Yoshino Aoyama)
Margaret holds official co-lead billing and is voiced by Yoshino Aoyama, best known to many anime viewers as Hitori Gotoh in Bocchi the Rock!.
- LLily Flambert(VA: Lynn)
Lily shares main-character status, with Lynn—also known for voicing Miorine Rembran in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury—rounding out the central trio.
What Makes It Stand Out
- 1
P.A. Works produces the series under director Shuu Honma, while Youko Yonaiyama handles series composition, placing comic timing and long-form narrative organization under distinct senior staff roles.
- 2
Its enhancement system has an unusual reversibility rule: Rein can assign points beyond weapons and can cancel his own effects at will. That detail turns enchantment into an economy of recoverable resources rather than a permanent crafting bonus.
- 3
AniList’s tag profile is notably eccentric for an Action, Comedy, and Fantasy title: Surreal Comedy leads at 92%, followed by Urban Fantasy and Found Family at 79%, while Chibi, Exiled, and Magic each register at 66%.
- 4
The visual pipeline credits Yuito Kiyosawa for principal character design, Masami Gouda for sub-character design, Hiromi Makino for props, and Kayoko Nabeta as main animator, giving the production separately identified specialists for characters, supporting designs, objects, and core motion.
- 5
Delinquents and Gangs both appear among its AniList tags despite the absence of an official thematic label, indicating that its social comedy reaches beyond the usual guild-and-dungeon vocabulary of LitRPG fantasy.

- Fun fact 3
- The first episode continues the production’s sentence-length naming gag with a title that translates to: “Everyone knows what it’s like when nothing goes right, but what do I do when that happens? Why, it’s obvious! I run and scream my head off!”
- Fun fact 4
- Early ratings are positive but vary by platform: MyAnimeList reports 7.46 from 2,539 votes, AniList lists 72 out of 100 with 257 favorites, and AnimeOshi’s smaller sample gives it 9.3 from 18 ratings.
- Fun fact 5
