Synopsis
At the age of twenty-three, Takaba Akihito is a passionate freelance photographer on the lookout for his next big story. His pursuit of a thrilling scoop leads him to capture the illicit dealings of the notorious crime lord, Asami Ryuichi. However, his ambition takes a dark turn when Asami retaliates, leading to an intense and complex relationship marked by power dynamics and emotional entanglement.
As their connection deepens, Takaba finds himself caught in a web of desire and danger, where feelings of attraction intertwine with the underlying tension of their circumstances. Meanwhile, Fei Long, a rival gang leader with a vendetta against Asami, becomes intrigued by Takaba, complicating the already volatile situation. This gripping narrative explores themes of obsession, rivalry, and the unexpected bonds that form in the most precarious of situations.
Otaku Consensus
You're My Love Prize is received as a niche, provocative Finder Series OVA: its compact direction and adult-crime BL atmosphere work best for viewers already interested in Ayano Yamane’s sharper erotic material. Its biggest limitation is also its identity marker: the two-episode format compresses the relationship dynamics heavily, while the coercive sexual power imbalance remains the main barrier reflected in its middling MAL and AniList scores.
Why You Should Watch
Watch You're My Love Prize if you want BL that leans into danger, erotic tension, and criminal underworld aesthetics without the soft framing of school romance or slice-of-life courtship. It scratches a similar itch to harder-edged adult BL like Twittering Birds Never Fly, but in a shorter, pulpier OVA package built around photography, gang rivalries, and dominance games. The appeal is not breadth; it is concentration. Across only two episodes, GARDEN LODGE delivers a Finder Series entry aimed at viewers who want adult male characters, morally abrasive attraction, and the kind of messy power dynamics that mainstream romance anime usually avoids. The non-consensual content is not incidental, so it is best approached as dark erotica rather than comfort BL.
Key Characters
- AAkihito Takaba
Akihito is interesting because his role as a 23-year-old freelance photographer makes the OVA’s erotic crime world feel filtered through surveillance, risk-taking, and the hunt for evidence rather than conventional romance.
- RRyuichi Asami
Asami is the character fans remember for his controlled menace: a crime-lord figure whose appeal is inseparable from the series’ fixation on dominance, danger, and emotional leverage.
- FFei Long
Fei Long broadens the story beyond a two-person power struggle by bringing triad rivalry and personal vendetta energy into the Finder Series’ adult BL framework.
What Makes It Stand Out
- 1
The anime is a two-episode OVA by GARDEN LODGE, not a TV series, which gives it the feel of a concentrated adult BL adaptation rather than a broad introductory version of the Finder Series.
- 2
Its release history is unusually stretched for such a short title: episode releases span from Feb 29, 2012 to Aug 28, 2015, creating a gap of more than three years between the start and finish of the OVA run.
- 3
The AniList tag profile is unusually specific for a BL title: Boys’ Love is maxed at 100%, while Photography sits at 65% and Gangs at 60%, emphasizing a crime-media angle rather than a relationship-only hook.
- 4
The content profile includes Rape at 20%, making the OVA part of the more controversial end of erotic BL adaptations where coercion and attraction are deliberately entangled.
- 5
The cast focus is adult and male-coded in the database tags, with Primarily Adult Cast and Primarily Male Cast both listed at 20%, setting it apart from youth-centered romance anime.
Fun Facts & Trivia
- Fun fact 1
- The OVA began airing on Feb 29, 2012, a leap-day release date, and did not finish until Aug 28, 2015.
- Fun fact 2
- Ayano Yamane is credited as the original creator, tying the anime directly to the Finder Series source material rather than being an anime-original BL project.
- Fun fact 3
- On MyAnimeList, it holds a 6.46/10 score from 10,028 votes and a popularity rank of #5178, placing it in the realm of niche, recognized BL rather than broad mainstream anime.
- Fun fact 4
- AniList records a 57/100 score and 48 favourites, which aligns with its reputation as a title with a specific audience rather than wide consensus appeal.
- Fun fact 5
- The database genre mix is unusually blunt: Action, Boys Love, Drama, and Erotica are all listed, signaling that the OVA is designed around adult genre collision rather than romance alone.
