On a misty morning on Mount Akina, Keisuke Takahashi’s Mazda RX-7 is overtaken by a black-and-white Toyota AE86 so quickly it feels like a ghost story come to life. Convinced the “Ghost of Akina” is real, Keisuke rallies the Akagi Red Suns and arranges an exchange race against the local Akina Speed Stars, determined to draw the mysterious driver out and settle the score.

Takumi Fujiwara, meanwhile, couldn’t be less interested in street racing despite his friend Itsuki Takeuchi’s obsession with cars. For Takumi, driving is just part of his daily pre-dawn tofu deliveries in his father’s old AE86—yet that routine has taught him every hairpin and braking point on Akina with uncanny precision. When the Red Suns arrive to challenge the Speed Stars and prove overwhelmingly stronger, the only hope for Akina’s pride rests on convincing Takumi to take the wheel and face the mountain’s fiercest challengers.
