The Eccentric Family 2

After learning what truly happened to their father, the four Shimogamo brothers settle back into a calmer rhythm in Kyoto, each trying to honor his legacy in a different way. Eldest son Yaichirou sets his sights on becoming the next Trick Magister and guiding tanuki society, beginning with the revival of the beloved shogi tournament. Yajirou focuses on reclaiming the shapeshifting talent he once had, while the youngest, Yashirou, is satisfied keeping things running at the family’s factory. Meanwhile, third son Yasaburou leans into the “fool’s blood” he inherited—drifting through life with playful curiosity, chasing rumors of a tsuchinoko and leaving small disturbances in his wake.

Those disturbances grow more dangerous when Nidaime, the estranged son of the brothers’ tengu mentor Professor Akadama, reappears with old resentments—directed at his father and at Akadama’s apprentice, Benten. With loyalties questioned and tensions rising, Yasaburou is forced to rely on tanuki cunning to keep the peace, before the fragile equilibrium between humans, tengu, and tanuki collapses.
