Tanis, a brilliant young prodigy, is the youngest child of two rogue scientists who raised their family in seclusion on a remote island. There, his parents’ experiments altered his siblings and left them with unusual abilities—until the authorities discover their work and arrest them, abruptly ending the life the children have always known.

Escorted by government officials to a more populated island, Tanis arrives with his four modified siblings: Snow, a dog-human hybrid; Ashise, a plant-human hybrid; Aisley, a spider-human hybrid; and Suishi, who can read minds. As the only sibling untouched by genetic modification, Tanis becomes their guide to everyday life, trying to help them fit in while keeping their distinctive traits out of sight.
