Known to the public for impeccably planned robberies and the advance notices he sends to his targets, Nijuu Mensou is a “gentleman thief” with a strict code: he refuses to kill and chooses victims he considers greedy and corrupt.

During a job at the Mikamo estate, he crosses paths with 11-year-old Chizuko—“Chiko”—who has been living with her aunt Yoshie and uncle Shouji since her parents’ death. Though she stands to inherit a sizable fortune, Chiko’s situation is far from simple, and she longs to get away. Nijuu Mensou’s heist ends with more than a stolen gemstone; Chiko leaves with him as well.

Taken in by his crew, Chiko quickly adapts to their world, learning the tricks of the trade and finding the warmth of a family she’s been missing. But as word spreads of the thief’s “daughter,” the name brings attention—and trouble—that’s difficult to outrun.
