Saya Otonashi lives a quiet, ordinary life with her adoptive family in Okinawa City, marked only by persistent anemia and a blank stretch of memory that reaches no farther back than the past year. That fragile normalcy begins to crack as hints of a forgotten history linger just out of reach.

One night, a blood-feeding creature attacks her at school, and Saya is saved by a mysterious man named Haji. When he makes her drink his blood, she slips into a trance and dispatches the monster with startling ease, using her own blood as the key. Drawn into the conflict, Saya learns of Red Shield—an organization dedicated to eradicating these inhuman beings—and joins Haji in battling them while searching for the truth behind her lost past.
