Deep beneath the earth lies the Labyrinth, a sprawling underground world where humanity survives in clustered colonies. With the surface reduced to a half-remembered legend, daily life depends on specialized roles: Workers extract valuable ore to keep the colonies running, while Markers venture into the Labyrinth’s unexpectedly verdant expanses to map routes and return with information that makes travel possible.

Their greatest danger comes from kaijuu—hostile creatures ranging from child-sized to towering, building-like giants capable of breaking into colonies. In one such settlement lives Memenpu, a nine-year-old college graduate whose inventions have helped the Workers, yet her mind keeps drifting to dreams of an endless sky beyond the bedrock. Determined to become a Marker and chase that vision, she clashes with her father, Gagumber—until a kaijuu-related incident pushes them into a perilous journey through the Labyrinth that could change humanity’s future.
