Midori Asakusa experiences everyday life through the lens of her sketchbook, turning ordinary sights into sprawling imagined worlds with meticulous backgrounds and landscapes. Her flights of fancy are often grounded by her sharp, pragmatic best friend, Sayaka Kanamori—an exacting foil to Asakusa’s wide-eyed creativity.

A chance incident involving the young model Tsubame Misuzaki and her overprotective bodyguard brings the trio together, and Asakusa and Misuzaki quickly bond over a shared devotion to drawing and animation. With Asakusa focused on settings and Misuzaki captivated by the human form, Kanamori spots a practical angle and pushes for an animation club—cleverly masked as a motion picture club since the school already has an anime club. Their collaboration becomes a spirited dive into the craft of making animation, shaped by imagination, artistry, and Kanamori’s hard-nosed planning.
