As Mo Fan faces the assessment that determines advancement to the main campus, the Black Order resurfaces and chooses that moment to strike. With danger closing in, he pushes his training further by making use of the Three Step Pagoda, preparing himself to withstand threats that go far beyond an ordinary school evaluation.

Not long after, Mo Fan is chosen as an exchange student at another university, where the program quickly turns demanding. The curriculum includes a team battle and a hands-on practical exam set in a monster-infested city, and complications escalate when deserters from the defense force corner him into a difficult situation—another obstacle on his path toward becoming the strongest mage.
