Skate-Leading Stars

Once a celebrated child prodigy in singles figure skating, Kensei Maeshima walked away from the ice after his one-sided rival, Reo Shinozaki, refused to recognize his ability. Now at Inodai High School, Kensei keeps his distance from organized clubs, lending his athletic talents to other teams without ever committing. That changes when Reo abandons singles to join the team-based world of skate-leading at St. Clavis Gakuin High School, the reigning Grand Prix champions. Spurred on by classmate Hayato Sasugai—who carries a mysterious tie to Reo—Kensei takes up skate-leading with the goal of finally surpassing him in competition.

Kensei’s arrival in the Inodai Skate-Leading Club doesn’t come easily. His strength as an individual skater doesn’t translate to a discipline that demands coordination and trust, and his impatience, uneven performances, and fraught history with certain members quickly fuel resistance to him taking the crucial “Lead” role. With the Grand Prix Finals in sight and St. Clavis looming as the team to beat, Inodai must find a way to turn friction into teamwork.
