Caught in a mountain blizzard, Masayuki Muroi is shoved off a cliff by a former high school friend and left for dead. He survives only because a yuki-onna—a beautiful snow spirit rumored to lure men to their doom—guides him to safety, asking for nothing but money in return.

Eleven years later, Masayuki’s life unravels: his company fails, his wife is unfaithful, and he returns to the town where he once encountered the yuki-onna, renewing their connection with cash and warm meals. When his ex-wife is discovered beaten to death, Masayuki becomes entangled in the case, and the one witness who could support his alibi is the yuki-onna—yet she cannot reveal herself to humans.

With options running out, the yuki-onna turns to Kotoko Iwanaga, the spirits’ revered God of Wisdom, known for settling disputes through sharp reasoning and careful manipulation. Joined by her immortal boyfriend, Kurou Sakuragawa, Kotoko takes on the challenge of proving Masayuki’s innocence while keeping the yuki-onna’s existence hidden.
