Run Melos!

In the vibrant city of Syracuse, Melos, a young man from Messina, arrives with the noble intention of purchasing a ceremonial sword for his sister's upcoming wedding. During his visit, he forges an unexpected friendship with a talented sculptor, sharing dreams and aspirations amid the city's grandeur. However, Melos's fate takes a dark turn when he is apprehended by the King’s guards, who are consumed by paranoia over potential assassins. Facing a death sentence, Melos is desperate to attend his sister's celebration and pleads for a reprieve of three days to return to Messina.

Though skeptical of Melos's intentions, the King reluctantly grants his request, but with a catch: Melos must find someone willing to take his place should he fail to return. The sculptor, demonstrating unwavering loyalty, steps forward to serve as Melos’s substitute.
