"Ippon" again!

Cheerful and easygoing Michi Sonoda tells her teammate Sanae Takigawa that she’s done with judo after their last middle school tournament. Sanae can hardly believe it—Michi’s enthusiasm was what drew her into the sport in the first place—but Michi insists she’d rather spend her youth chasing things like a boyfriend than grinding it out on the tatami.

Her attempt at a memorable send-off goes sideways when she suffers a humiliating loss to the gifted Towa Hiura. Matters get even more complicated when Michi learns that Towa will be attending the same high school as her and Sanae, forcing an unexpected rematch with her past rival—and stirring up feelings that suggest she may not be ready to leave judo behind after all.
