MF Ghost

In the 2020s, with electric cars becoming the norm, fans of gasoline-powered machines keep the spirit alive through MFG, a major racing league watched by tens of millions online. Hundreds of drivers enter with the same goal: break into the elite “Godly Fifteen” and contend for a 100 million yen prize. Among the challengers is 19-year-old Kanata Rivington.

Trained at a renowned racing school in England, Kanata joins the upcoming tournament under the name “Kanata Katagiri.” He starts out in a Toyota 86 GT inherited from a former MFG competitor—hardly the most imposing car on the grid—yet he’s supported by advice from a Godly Fifteen racer. While he uses MFG as a means to an end in his search for his estranged father, Kanata’s arrival unsettles the racing world, as his technique calls to mind a driver once considered legendary.
