Tonari no Yokai-san

In the quiet town of Engamori, humans share their days with yokai and gods, a coexistence that has endured for centuries as everyone tries to live calmly and unobtrusively. That balance feels newly personal when Buchio, a 20-year-old cat nearing the end of his life, inexplicably becomes a nekomata. The transformation grants him more time with the human family he loves, but it also leaves him unsettled—especially as unfamiliar powers awaken and he searches for meaning in why he changed at all.

Elsewhere, elementary schooler Mutsumi “Muu-chan” Sugimoto finds herself drawn to Jirou, a crow-like tengu. As Jirou begins to ease the absence left by her late father, the two struggle at first to express what they want from each other, then slowly build a bond rooted in mutual care and protection.
