A Girl & Her Guard Dog

Orphaned at five, Isaku Senagaki is taken in by her yakuza boss grandfather, Tasuke, and grows up under the shadow of organized crime. As she heads into high school, she resolves to leave that reputation behind and experience school like anyone else—making friends, falling in love, and being seen for who she is rather than who raised her.

That plan unravels when her fiercely protective guardian, 26-year-old Keiya Utou, uses bribery to place himself in the same school. Isaku’s feelings for him only complicate matters: she hopes for a love returned, while Keiya insists on viewing her solely as the boss’s granddaughter he helped bring up. Caught between her desire for independence and Keiya’s intrusive devotion, Isaku finds that claiming a “normal” life—and letting go of a one-sided crush—may be her hardest fight.
