Haruka Kiyomine and Kei Kaname once ruled middle school baseball as an unrivaled pitcher-catcher pair. With Kaname—nicknamed the “General”—calling the shots and Kiyomine firing overwhelming pitches, they shut down countless hopeful players chasing a path to the pros.

One of those players is first-year high schooler Tarou Yamada, who’s already given up on competing when he enters Kotesashi High School, an ordinary public school with barely a baseball presence. There, he’s stunned to find the very duo that crushed his ambitions—only Kaname is no longer the cool tactician he remembers, as amnesia has turned him into a crude, nonstop jokester. Having lost his own drive for the sport, Kaname chose Kotesashi simply for convenience, pulling along a frustrated Kiyomine.

As a small baseball club begins to take shape, Yamada runs into other once-promising players who have also stepped away from the game. Determined to bring their talent back onto the field, he sets his sights on rekindling their shared dreams of reaching the top—if they can handle Kaname’s constant clowning along the way.
