Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance

After a stretch of calm at the Kamiya dojo, Kenshin Himura is forced back to a painful turning point, where his pledge to never take a life is pushed to its limits.

The killing of his former commander draws Kenshin onto a bloodstained path once more, this time to stop Makoto Shishio—an assassin hailed as a prodigy who claims to be the successor to the infamous Battousai. From Kyoto, Shishio has spent a decade laying the groundwork to topple the Meiji government, assembling an anti-government force and tightening his grip through ruthless subordinates, even setting his sights on recruiting Aoshi Shinomori, the former leader of the famed Oniwaban Group.

Passing through a village abandoned by the authorities and ruled under Shishio’s iron hand, Kenshin resolves to keep Japan from sliding back into civil war. To do it, he joins with his onetime enemy Hajime Saitou, forming a tense alliance as they confront Shishio’s growing empire.
