As treasure vaults resembling sprawling dungeons begin surfacing across the land, would-be hunters flock to them in search of lost relics and unimaginable wealth—stakes that often come with a deadly price. In the imperial capital of Zebrudia, the most celebrated party is the Grieving Souls: six childhood friends led by Krai Andrey, widely believed to be their strongest member thanks to his supposed breadth of abilities.

The truth is far less heroic. Krai has no exceptional talent, and the party’s victories owe more to his overwhelmingly powerful companions than to his own skill. Haunted by the fear that his shortcomings could someday endanger them, he repeatedly tries to step away—only to find that everyone’s faith in him keeps pushing him back into the role of leader.
